You may have seen my ‘Girls Get Into Golf’ taster email, with a beginners course starting next month. This week I’m going to discuss a few reasons why women should start playing!
- It’s great for socialising & making new friends
Golf can be a great opportunity to enjoy a fun activity with friends. With plenty of time for chatting as you go round the course, drinking wine together in the club bar afterwards, golf is the most sociable sport around. If you are a complete beginner why not come and try our free taster session for ‘Girls Get into Golf’ on the 16th October? Completely free and a glass of wine to finish!
- It gets you outdoors.
There is nothing like playing golf on a beautiful, sunny day! Exercising outdoors is a scientifically-proven way to help improve your mood, stress levels and self-esteem. With Vitamin D levels high from being exposed to sunlight, golf is a great way to get plenty of fresh air and enjoy natural scenary.
- It keeps you fit.
In today’s world, with busy family & work life, exercise can be difficult to fit in! Golf may not get you sweating like a gym session would, but it can burn at least 900 calories in one round! Taking more then 10000 steps you will easily achieve the recommended 150 minutes of moderate exercise a week recommended by the NHS to keep healthy.
Golf can be competitive or non-competitive, but with a handicapping system it allowed golfers of all abilities to play together. With less wear and tear on your body than higher impact sports, it’s also a game you can play until you are much older.
- A New Challenge
It’s always good to challenge yourself with new things & try things out of your comfort zone. It’s a great way to feel like you’ve achieved something different that you can be proud of!
