In the News this Week…

This week, with the ladies, a new No.1 was crowned. Thailand’s Ariya Jutanugarn has seized the world No.1 ranking from New Zealand’s Lydia Ko despite neither lifting a club in the LPGA ShopRite Classic. Ryu So-Yeon (ranked third in the world), missed the chance to take the number one spot by finishing third or better in the tournament in Galloway, New Jersey, but missed the cut on Saturday.

Ko slips from the summit after 84 consecutive weeks at the top. She’s been ranked No.1 for 103 weeks overall and she’s only 20!

America held the Memorial trophy this weekend hosted by Sir Jack Nicklaus at Muirfield Village, Ohio. After a 2 day lead, then a disappointing 77 on Saturday, Dufner took charge on Sunday firing a -4 68 to win by 3, becoming the native to win this tournament behind Jack Nicklaus, pretty cool!

European tour this week was the Nordea Masters in Sweden. Yet again, the young guns are back with Renato Paratore aged 20 first win! After a disappointing wayward drive and bogey down the last, Chris Wood missed a play off, coming second by one with Fitzpatrick. However, a positive for Wood is that this 2nd place finish should allow him to qualify for the US open.

Mickelson to skip US Open
Phil Mickelson will not compete in the US Open as the tournament clashes with his daughter’s high school graduation.
