Gary Woodland finally ended his run of 5 years without a win on the PGA Tour with a win at the Phoenix Open.
Gary Woodland fired a final round of 64 to shoot -18 for the tournament. He was tied with Chez Reavie at the top and they were forced to go to a play off hole. Ollie Schniederjans, Phil Mickelson, Brendan Steele and Matt Kuchar finished in tied 3rd place on -14.
The earlier leader Rickie Fowler struggled on the final day with 3 bogeys in his last 4 holes, to struggle to a +2 and finis for tied 11th.
The Phoenix Open is a calderon atmosphere with stands surrounding the 16th hole, to create a football like atmosphere. With music playing, fans cheering and booing while players are taking their shot, this is no place of the faint hearted, could this be the future of golf?
Gary Woodland only needed a par on the first play off hole to beat Chez Reavie as his 35 foot putt shaved he edge of the hole to rescue his par.
