This weekend introduces the Golf Sixes has held at Centurion Club, St Albans, England.
As I’m sure many of you have been watching, this is a new exciting format of golf to increase the appeal to the millennial demographic with the quick and exciting performance!
The competition is a greensomes two-man team from 16 different nations, each nation being represented by its two leading ranked and available European Tour members. Group stages leading through knockouts, the English team of Andy Sullivan and Chris Wood making it to the quarterfinals to be knocked out by the Italian duo of Manassero and Paratore. The final came down to Australia and Denmark, with the Australian pairing Brazel and Hend losing 3-1 to the winners Oleson and Bjerregaard representing Denmark!
The country vs country format is used due to the success and incredible atmosphere of the best known golfing week the Ryder Cup. In addition to amphitheatre-style stands, music and pyrotechnics, with all players mic’d up its aiming to modernise and introduce innovative new format.
