Hunley Hotel & Golf Club are recruiting for a Director of Golf to oversee all aspects of the golf operation at the facility. Hunley offers 27 holes of golf, driving range and par 3 short course along with full clubhouse facilities and hotel rooms. With stunning views across the North Yorkshire coastline, Hunley provides a unique golfing experience.
The Golf Club side of the facility currently has approximately 600 members spread across a range of categories which the business hope to expand further in 2020. With a full calendar of competitions and team matches, the golf environment is vibrant, operationally demanding but also very rewarding to be part of.
Seasonally, the facility is visited by a substantial number of golf breaks, many returning year on year as long standing customers of Hunley. The mixture of course layouts, extensive facilities and warm hospitality by the staff ensures Hunley offers a fantastic product that keeps evolving for the
The golf course(s) at Hunley have improved dramatically over the past 7 years under the eyes of a Course Manager who is part of The R&A Scholarship Program. Through sustainable management, the quality of the grasses and turf has improved along with significant alterations to a number of tees, greens and bunkers.
The Director of Golf will form part of the Senior Management team at Hunley and will have input into the overall direction of the business. Director of Golf – Job Description

Key Aspects of the Role:

● Regularly communicating and engaging with the current membership
● Devising new membership ideas as well as ways of adding value for current members
Competition & Fixture Administration
● Working with membership assistants panel to review, meet, organise & administrate golf competitions
● When needed, working strategically to ensure Hunley adjusts to industry and lifestyle trends
Operating the Golf Shop
● Offer fantastic customer service for anyone looking to purchase from Hunley’s golf shop
● Work with the shop’s stock supplier to ensure customer needs are always met
Planning & Running the Golf Operation
● Planning ahead to ensure the tee booking sheet runs smoothly for members, hotel guests and visitors
● Overseeing the operation during busy periods to ensure the golf course is running as required
Management of Staff
● Managing a small team of professional staff along with volunteers including course marshals
Working with Greenstaff
● Communicating course setup, driving range and any other appropriate areas
Point of Contact
● For hotel groups, societies & green fee payers when needed. Introduce Hunley both prior to arrival & onsite if appropriate

● You will report directly to the General Manager, making the role ideal for a self-motivated & autonomous individual.

● A level or equivalent experience
● In depth understanding of the game of golf
● Understanding of the structure of golf club (general, club based & admin structure)
