Over the last few weeks the course has become quite wet with persistent rain every day. Obviously, this has led to rather muddy conditions on the course, which is quite normal for December at Hunley.
With this the case, please help us to look after the course so that when we get to spring and the start of the new season, the course is in top shape and ready to go.
- Ropes are up to protect the green surrounds from wear caused by trolleys, please do respect this and push your trolley around them and not under them.
- Pitch marks are getting really evident now too as the greens soften in the winter months. It only takes a second to repair and prevents scars being left for months afterward. Give your playing partners a nudge if they forget 😉
- We also have asked for trolleys to keep off the fairways as much as possible, however, if your trolley has the winter wheels then we are happy for you to go on fairways, due to significantly reduced damage from these.
Work on the course is going great still as we keep up the evolution of the course. Fox bunkers are almost complete, with a break down to the turf cutter holding us up here for the time being.
We have returned to Rawcliffe now too, and are installing the new bunker to the right of the fairway. This will replace the current one in the fairway that will now be filled in (I can hear many of you cheering for joy on that front!).
Some clearance has begun between Morgan’s Mound and Wetlands, with Poplar trees being removed as they are not only non native trees, but have begun to spread out of control. This will be ongoing over the coming weeks.
